World Environment Day Message from Çevko Foundation

WE MUST TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE CLIMATE CRISIS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!
In the message published by ÇEVKO Foundation for World Environment Day, a call was made to take action against the climate crisis before it is too late. The message, emphasizing that individuals, civil society, media, academic institutions, economic enterprises, local governments, central governments, parliaments and international organizations have important duties in combating the climate crisis, which is a chronic threat to the world and humanity, was published together with a video providing information about what individuals should do. The message also included ÇEVKO Foundation's 10 solution suggestions against the climate crisis.
ÇEVKO Foundation published a special message for World Environment Day. The following statements were included in the message published along with a video emphasizing what individuals can do and the contribution of recycling in combating the climate crisis:
Established in 1991 with the determination of leading organizations in environmental awareness, ÇEVKO Foundation brings together the identities of an expert industrial initiative and an active non-governmental organization.
Our main message on World Environment Day, which is of great importance in increasing awareness about the sustainable environment with the contribution of media organizations, is that "Human life depends on the environmental sustainability of the world we live in, action must be taken against the climate crisis before it is too late, and individuals, civil society, media, academic institutions, economic enterprises, local governments, central governments, parliaments and international organizations have important duties for this."
As ÇEVKO Foundation, we have developed a proposal package consisting of 10 items regarding what needs to be done against the climate crisis: 1-Turkey should set an absolute reduction target in order to reach the 2053 "carbon neutrality" target, 2-Climate laws and regulations should be quickly enacted and put into effect, 3-Imposing limits and prices on carbon emissions through the Emission Trading System or similar methods, 4-Gradually phasing out coal in energy production, We recommend 5- increasing forests and carbon sinks, 6- increasing energy efficiency and renewable energy, 7- reducing emissions from the energy sector, industry, buildings, transportation, agriculture and waste, 8- making and implementing regional plans on "adaptation", 9- creating serious financial resources for these and 10- creating a national awareness campaign.
