Şişecam Chairman Kırman Received the "Person of the Year Adding Value to Glass" Award

According to the statement made by Şişecam, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman was deemed worthy of the "Person of the Year Adding Value to Glass" award by the Phoenix Award Committee for his contributions to the global glass industry. The award was presented at a special night held in Como, Italy. Leading representatives of the global business world and the glass industry attended the night.
Prof., whose opinions were included in the statement. Dr. Kırman touched upon the three biggest problems of the world and conveyed the tasks that the glass industry should undertake in solving these problems.
Kırman noted the following:
"The most important of these problems is that the concept of a sustainable world is not taken into consideration sufficiently for the sake of political and economic interests, even though it is strongly expressed, especially in developed countries. For a solution, first of all, the glass industry needs to act together on the use of resources. Common problems need to be solved by getting rid of the greed for profit, keeping competition at the lowest level and with common sense. Fair income distribution and providing equal opportunities for women in the glass industry are other important issues. We must increase our joint efforts in these areas.
It is of great importance to me to be deemed worthy of this special award, which has been presented to those who are important to the world glass industry and have contributed to the sector for more than 50 years. The fact that what we do in the glass industry, of which I am proud to be a part after being a judge, an academic and a banker, is being watched and appreciated is very impressive in terms of both motivation and responsibility. I would like to thank the valuable committee members."
