Climate Change Exacerbates Humanitarian Crises

17 Apr 2022

In the report titled "Climate Change 2022: Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability" published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it was emphasized that short-term actions aimed at limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5°C will significantly reduce the projected losses and damages caused by climate change in human life and ecosystems compared to higher warming levels, but cannot eliminate them all. It is stated that current emission policies and commitments have put the world on a warming path of approximately 2.3-2.7°C. Stating that climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions from human activities harms food production, destroys nature and slows down economic growth, the report states that approximately 3.3 billion people live vulnerable to climate change.
