Anadolu Efes Directs the Agriculture of the Future

07 May 2025

In 2024, Anadolu Efes launched the "Field to Bottle Repair" program in cooperation with Anadolu Meraları to make the agricultural ecosystem more resilient to the climate crisis, thus taking a pioneering step to integrate regenerative agriculture practices into the supply chain. Regenerative agriculture plays an important role in tackling the climate crisis and biodiversity crisis. According to the "Shaping the Future of Farming" report of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), regenerative agriculture covers approximately 15 percent of global cropland today. The same report emphasizes that in order to limit climate change to a 1.5 degree temperature increase, this rate must increase to 40 percent in the world by 2030. The company, which started regenerative agriculture practices in pilot regions within the scope of the "Repair from Field to Bottle" program, focused on improving the ecosystem's knowledge, skills and competencies in this field, and on the other hand, created a resource in the field of agriculture with Anatolian Pastures and published the first Regenerative Agriculture Guide in its sector.

Research shows that food systems are one of the biggest factors in the rapid loss of biodiversity and account for 70 percent of global water use. "Regenerative agriculture", which is being implemented by more and more institutions globally as a solution, plays a very important role in agricultural production for positive reasons such as contributing to nature, soil health, water supply and quality, nutrient and carbon cycles. While regenerative agriculture covers approximately 15 percent of global cultivated areas today, it is emphasized that this rate must increase to 40 percent by 2030 in order to limit climate change to a 1.5 degree temperature increase. Practices that increase soil health increase carbon sequestration capacity in the long term, improve water retention capacity and enrich biodiversity.

Anadolu Efes also says “Agriculture is in the future, there is a future in agriculture!” It continues to develop new studies and projects to contribute to the sustainability of agriculture with its motto. The company, which started smart agriculture practices in 2018, launched the "Repair from Field to Bottle" program in 2024 with the social enterprise Anadolu Meraları, which develops restorative systems to increase the resilience of the agricultural ecosystem against the climate crisis and produces solutions to ecological and social problems. Anadolu Efes aims to map its supply network and transform it into a restorative community infrastructure, and to ensure the dissemination of regenerative agriculture and holistic management approach. At the same time, it aims to create a production ecosystem in harmony with nature by prioritizing the welfare of farmers and the protection of natural resources.

The company, which started regenerative agriculture practices in pilot regions within the scope of the program, focused on improving the ecosystem's knowledge, skills and competencies in this field, while creating a resource in the field of agriculture and published the first Regenerative Agriculture Guide of its sector together with Anatolian Pastures. This guide serves as a guide for those operating for the agriculture of the future.
