Arçelik took part in two prestigious international rankings with its activities in the field of sustainability. Arçelik, which entered the "Global 100" list of the world's most sustainable companies by Corporate Knights, a media and research company working in the field of sustainability, for the second time this year, was once again entitled to be included in the "Real Leaders Top 200 Impact Companies" list with its successful performance in terms of social and environmental impact.
Arçelik, which has become carbon neutral in its global production facilities, aims for net zero emissions in its entire value chain by 2050, and implements innovative projects by placing sustainability at the center of all its activities, continues to be at the top of international lists in the field of sustainability.
Arçelik ranked 57th this year in the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" list prepared by Canada-based Corporate Knights, a well-known media and research company in the field of sustainability. Thus, it succeeded in being included in the list of the world's best performing companies in the field of sustainability for two consecutive years. Toronto-based Corporate Knights Magazine is one of the world's highest-circulation publications focusing on sustainability and the green economy. The rankings and ratings prepared by Corporate Knights Research serve to provide data and information to identify potential investment candidates for investors who currently manage more than $15 trillion in investments. It also encourages and rewards companies that make significant contributions to sustainability. Companies in the "Global 100" ranking are subjected to a detailed evaluation on 24 separate environmental, social, managerial and economic performance criteria, such as energy and water efficiency, inclusiveness and diversity in management teams, sustainability scores of their suppliers, and the ratio of taxes paid to EBITDA.
Arçelik was among the best for the second time this year in the research of the US-based Real Leaders, the world's first business and leadership magazine in the field of sustainability, on the companies and brands that make the most positive impact socially and environmentally every year. While Arçelik ranked 19th in The Real Leaders Top 200 Impact Companies list, Arçelik's Beko brand, which has achieved significant success on a global scale, entered the same list at 20th place.
Arçelik CEO Hakan Bulgurlu said, "Developing planet and climate-friendly solutions is one of the areas we have focused on for a long time at Arçelik. It is a source of pride and motivation for us that our activities in the field of sustainability are appreciated by international organizations. We keep our targets set for combating the climate crisis up to date by closely following global developments, and we contribute to the improvement of our planet with our R&D and innovation competencies. Our place in the Corporate Knights Global 100 ranking is a source of pride and motivation for both investors and investors." This year, we are included in the Real Leaders list, which lists companies that create environmental and social positive impact, and with our Beko brand. We are proud that our Beko brand, which brings energy-friendly products to our customers all over the world, as well as innovative technologies containing recycled plastics and biocomposite materials, with the approach of 'Healthy life is only possible with a healthy planet', is at the top of this list, and is an example to many companies with our sustainability journey. “With the happiness of being successful, we will continue to implement pioneering practices and work to make our achievements permanent and stronger.” he said.
Aiming for net zero emissions in its entire value chain by 2050, Arçelik was one of the 45 global companies deemed worthy of the 'Terra Carta Seal', which was presented by the Prince of Wales of the United Kingdom to companies committed to combating climate change with concrete targets, at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
Arçelik took its carbon emissions reduction targets, previously approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative, further and updated them in line with the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting the global temperature increase to 1.5 degrees. In line with the new targets submitted for approval to the Science-Based Targets Initiative, Arçelik aims to reduce carbon emissions by 50.4% by 2030 compared to the base year of 2018. In addition, Arçelik became carbon neutral in global production with the carbon credits it obtained with its own energy-efficient refrigerators project in 2019 and 2020.
