35 Thousand Trees from P&G Turkey in its 35th Year
13 Jun 2022In the P&G 35th Anniversary Forest project, implemented in cooperation with Procter & Gamble(P&G) and ÇEVKO Foundation, 35 thousand trees are planted in its 35th year to contribute to future generations living in a better world.
P&G is entering its 35th year in Turkey with a series of acts of kindness with the motto "Love opens every door." P&G has implemented the "P&G 35th Anniversary Forest" project in cooperation with the ÇEVKO Foundation, one of the most important acts of kindness in the field of environmental sustainability, by carrying out 42 acts of kindness since last year.
P&G, which promised 35 thousand trees as part of its 35th year in Turkey after the forest fires last summer, implemented the sapling planting event with its employees. P&G employees, ÇEVKO Foundation and Aegean Forest Foundation officials attended the event.
P&G Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asia Corporate Communications Head Ayça Turgay stated that P&G thanked both its stakeholders and consumers by carrying out a series of acts of kindness in its 35th year in Turkey and said, "This project, which we carried out in cooperation with P&G and ÇEVKO Foundation, is very meaningful for us. The biggest of our environmental problems is actually the decrease in forest areas. That is why we promised 35 thousand trees in our 35th year last year. Today, we are working with ÇEVKO Foundation." "We gathered together to realize this promise and together with our employees, we are planting our saplings in the soil," he said.
Turgay stated that, as P&G, its brands have a number of projects to increase forest areas, and said, "We will continue our work with markets in this field. Our aim is to leave a greener world to future generations. In this sense, our social responsibility efforts will continue accelerating. We say 'We open every door with love'. We would like to thank all our consumers who opened their doors to us, and all our employees for walking with us on this 35-year journey."
Aegean Forest Foundation Deputy General Manager Yasemen Bilgili stated that the Aegean Forest Foundation has been working on sustainability services of forests for 27 years, raising awareness in the society, establishing the balance between economy and ecology, and carrying out and implementing all carbon-related projects, and said, "We are trying to raise awareness in the society about the protection and sustainability of forests and the creation of new forest areas by trying to explain the importance of forest ecosystems and sustainability services to 30-35 thousand people a year."
Bilgili stated that this work they carried out with P&G is to create forests and carbon sinks by planting saplings with a new afforestation project, protecting forest ecosystem services against the climate crisis until this forest is finalized, and said:
"These carbon sinks retain and absorb some of the carbon we have released into the atmosphere for 60 years in the final form of the forests. That is why planting trees is one of the most important elements in the fight against the climate crisis. After planting the saplings, we protect the forest against human and animal harm by surrounding it. We carry out maintenance work around each sapling for 5 years and complete it by planting new saplings to replace the dried saplings. At the end of 5 years, each sapling returns to the forest having achieved biological independence." It's getting ready to mix.”
Bilgili noted that the Aegean Forest Foundation has been collaborating with the ÇEVKO Foundation for many years and has been carrying out projects on the reproduction of forest ecosystems, and that P&G has also been involved in this work together with the ÇEVKO Foundation and supported afforestation.
ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General Mete İmer stated that the Foundation has been continuing its contributions to the environment and economy with increasing momentum for more than 30 years and said, "P&G company, which is among our founders, is also celebrating its 35th anniversary. The fight against the climate crisis is among the priority areas of action of our Foundation, as a requirement of the conditions we live in as humanity. We now have to fight this struggle together with individuals as companies, states and all institutions. We have exhibited a good example of this here.
