French Court Stopped the Decision Regarding the "Green Dot" Symbol!

France announced that it would gradually remove the "Green Dot/Le Point Vert" symbol with the Decree published on January 1, 2021.

The decision to phase out the Green Dot symbol in France, which signifies funding by an organization for the recovery, sorting and recycling of sales packaging, was taken following claims that the symbol was confusing to consumers because it did not indicate recyclability, but instead meant that companies had met their financial obligations.

The main owner of the brand, Der Grüne Punkt GmbH, and PRO Europe protested this decree and successfully stopped this practice with the Court's state of emergency decision in early 2021.

On June 30, 2023, after two years of review, the French Supreme Administrative Court (Conseil d'État) announced its decision to annul the decrees restricting and penalizing the use of the "Green Dot" symbol in France. https://www.conseil-etat.fr/fr/arianeweb/CE/decision/2023-06-30/449872

The use of the Green Dot symbol will therefore continue to be voluntary in France and will not be subject to any penalties.
