04 Jul 2022

Anadolu Efes published its 2021 Sustainability Report. While the company ensures financial sustainability in all countries where it operates, it has also implemented 104 projects worth 107 million TL focused on the climate crisis throughout 2021. In 2022, it aims to carry out 40 projects focused on social development.

The report covering all countries where Anadolu Efes has operations reveals its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations. Working in light of 17 Global Goals, the company contributes to 15 targets and 36 sub-targets with 49 projects included in the 2021 report. Unlike previous years, the 2021 report also takes into account the Stakeholder Capitalism Metrics determined by the World Economic Forum International Business Council as an indicator of the understanding of stakeholder capitalism and value creation.

“Sustainability activities are monitored at the board level”

Stating that they do not only produce beer but also prioritize adding value to the society they operate in, Anadolu Efes Beer Group President and CEO Can Çaka said, "We aim to increase social and societal impact and reduce environmental impact while achieving financial sustainability in all the countries we operate in. With this understanding, we have taken important steps on the path to success in 2021. We have updated our prioritization analysis to include our internal and external stakeholders in all geographies where we operate. We aim to ensure that sustainability is corporate sustainability." "We renewed our governance structure in 2021 in order to maximize its integration into our strategy. We manage our sustainability activities in all countries where we operate from a single center, with the Global Sustainability Committee, under the guidance of our 2030 goals and Positive Impact Plan, which we put forward with a very solid road map the previous year."

“We have undertaken 104 projects worth 107 million TL focused on the climate crisis”

Mentioning that 2021 is a year in which the consequences of the climate crisis are more confronted, Çaka said, "During the reporting period, we aimed to reduce our environmental impact by carrying out 104 projects worth 107 million TL in total, focused on the climate crisis, in all our operations. With our work, for example, we reduced the emission intensity of beer production by 7% last year. We have 30 projects worth more than 61 million TL in order to increase water efficiency and minimize water risks. We have given to the 'Business World Plastic Initiative' "We fulfilled 63% of our 2023 plastic commitment in 2021 and reduced the use of virgin plastic by 504 tons in total," he said.
