LAV Adopts Zero Waste Management Philosophy

LAV, a world brand in the field of table glass, continues to achieve success with its sustainable business style and investments. Now, LAV, which has integrated the zero waste management philosophy into all its business processes in parallel with its "Journey with Glass" sustainability strategy created to develop processes that respect the environment and people, has been entitled to receive a zero waste certificate.

LAV shapes its work with this understanding by adopting a zero waste approach that aims to protect the environment, human health and all resources by reducing the amount of waste. The waste management philosophy, defined as preventing waste, using resources more efficiently, preventing or reducing waste generation by reviewing the causes of waste formation, collecting and recycling waste separately at the source, was integrated into all processes of LAV, and as a result, the company was entitled to receive a zero waste certificate.

LAV has completed all its preparations for "Zero Waste"

In line with Zero Waste studies, first the needs were analyzed and supplied. Later, a zero waste philosophy was tried to be instilled within the company through training and awareness activities. Environmental training, including zero waste issues, was held at the headquarters and organized factories. The accumulation equipment provided was placed at points easily accessible to employees. In accordance with the Zero Waste Regulation, labels were made with the necessary information letters and in accordance with the color scale. Domestic waste was collected as organic waste in cafeterias where food waste was concentrated, and recyclable waste and plastic waste were collected separately according to their type.

Medical waste generated in the infirmary is collected separately with special bags and disposed of by companies licensed from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Mask and glove waste used for COVID-19 measures are also collected separately in lidded and pedal buckets. Used batteries and fluorescent lamps are collected in separate waste bins. The collected waste is stored in our temporary waste warehouses according to its codes, and then sent to companies licensed by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization for recycling and disposal. Afterwards, monitoring, record keeping and improvement activities are carried out. Deficiencies and areas to be improved and developed are identified and necessary precautions are taken.

“We will continue to work for a beautiful tomorrow”

LAV General Manager Tuğrul Baran, who said that they were very happy for the company to receive the Zero Waste Certificate, said the following about LAV's zero waste management approach: "As a company taking firm steps towards becoming a world brand, we focused on the areas of "A Good World", "Good Products" and "A Good Company" in our sustainability strategy. The issue of zero waste is one of the most important issues we have adopted within the framework of this understanding. In this context, we have carried out all the necessary work for zero waste management, organizing trainings and working. We also made our friends aware of this issue. As a result of these studies, we were entitled to receive the zero waste certificate. As LAV, we will continue to work and produce for a "Good World".
