Our Areas of Expertise
Dear Readers,
As always, in this issue of ÇEVKO TRANSFORMATION, we included current and important issues under the titles "Climate Crisis", "Circular Economy", "Responsible Industry and Sustainability", "Green Dot", "Waste Management and Recycling" and "Sustainable Life".
Turkey's first Recovery Testing and Research Center (GETAM), established in April, is about to start receiving demands from the industry. Tests and analyzes to be carried out in GETAM; It will respond to new sustainability-focused needs such as recyclability, the amount of recycled material in a product, and biodegradability. Established in cooperation with ÇEVKO Foundation and Yıldız Technical University, GETAM will contribute to the development of innovative products through research and development activities, especially in the field of recycling.
2023 ÇEVKO Foundation Talks, conducted by the ÇEVKO Foundation Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group in cooperation with the Global Warming Congress Committee, continues this year with the title "Latest Developments in Climate Change, Green Deal and Sustainability". This year, faculty members and university students were also included in the conversations; It is carried out in cooperation with industrial organizations and universities.
Three important legal regulations came to our agenda in August. Two are action plan preparations and one is a draft climate law. Having a climate law in Turkey's fight against the climate crisis is a very important step in terms of setting a price and limit on carbon. In the action plans prepared by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; Details such as target years, outputs, performance indicators, responsible organizations are included.
The main issues regarding waste in the climate change action plan are:
As ÇEVKO Foundation, we welcome these developments. We have to move forward in line with the European Union's circular economy plans and implement our own action plans. It is necessary to increase recycling, see waste as a resource, and provide financing with the Extended Producer Responsibility (GÜS) model.
However, for the plans to be successful, contributions are expected not only from government institutions, but also from industry, NGOs, universities and individuals. Fighting the climate crisis requires a holistic approach that requires all stakeholders to work together.
We are happy to present you with another issue of ÇEVKO DÖNİSİM. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the preparation of our e-magazine.
Mete İmer
ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General
