“We are strengthened by equality of opportunity and inclusion”

Anadolu Efes announced its 2030 sustainability goals. Anadolu Efes, which has been regularly sharing its performance in corporate governance, environmental and social areas since 2010, grouped its 2030 targets under the main headings of "We are resetting for the environment", "We are increasing for social impact" and "We are strengthening with equality of opportunity and inclusion". The company has pledged to achieve net zero carbon emissions in all its operations by 2030. It will also increase the rate of female employees from 30 percent to 51 percent by 2030.

Anadolu Efes, which has been transparently sharing its sustainability road map with the public with international GRI standards since 2010, published its 2020 Sustainability Report. Anadolu Efes announced its 2030 sustainability targets as well as its 2020 performance in the report covering its operations in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Moldova.

Anadolu Efes CEO Can Çaka said, "We see sustainability as a way of thinking and as the main determining criterion in Anadolu Efes' business model. In our journey guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, we have set important goals that enable us to work passionately for the future of our society and our world. We need to reduce our carbon emissions in order to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. Seeing the need to take urgent steps in the fight against the climate crisis, we will continue this fight by 2030." "We aim to contribute to the goal of achieving net zero emissions in our operations. At the same time, we will continue our work in the field of waste management and certify that we are a zero waste organization in all our operations," he said.

Stating that employee policies and social impact are other focal points, Çaka said, "Our most important capital that helps us achieve our future goals is our employees. We are aware that sustainable development depends on the empowerment of women in business life and we believe that gender equality makes us stronger. By 2030, we will increase our female employee rate from 30% to 50% +1 and turn into a company that gets more power from women. On the other hand, we will focus on agriculture, entrepreneurship ecosystem, sports, culture and arts, local "We will continue to increase our social impact by continuing our investments in development and women's empowerment," he said.

Net zero carbon target in its operations

Aiming to reduce its environmental footprint, Anadolu Efes has committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions in its operations in six countries, including Türkiye, by 2030. In this context, the company will continue its energy efficiency investments. In addition, it will meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewable energy sources by 2030 or will evaluate renewable energy installation opportunities to use it in its operations. As part of this goal, the company has already switched to using 100% renewable electrical energy in more than half of its breweries in Russia.

Aiming to reduce its impact on the environment within the scope of its goals, Anadolu Efes sees reducing the amount of waste resulting from production as one of its priorities. In this context, all malt and beer operations of the company in Turkey have already been awarded the zero waste certificate. Fighting against plastic also has an important place in Anadolu Efes' 2030 goals. As one of the first signatories of the Business World Plastic Initiative in Turkey, the company works shoulder to shoulder with universities, suppliers and the entrepreneurship ecosystem in this field.

The target for female employees is 50+1 percent

Another important topic in Anadolu Efes' 2030 sustainability goals is gender equality. Anadolu Efes, which has an inclusive corporate culture, aims to increase the rate of female employees from 30% to 51% by 2030. Anadolu Efes will also certify that it offers equal opportunities to all its employees, regardless of gender, by 2023. In this context, Anadolu Efes became the first company in the fast-moving consumer goods sector in Turkey to receive the Equal Women at Work Certificate given by the Sustainability Academy in cooperation with Intertek in 2020. With this certificate, the company also registered that it implements a policy of equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender.

Anadolu Efes recently devoted a wide space to social investments in its Sustainability Report. The company will continue its long-term social investments supporting culture, arts and sports, local development and women's empowerment. Aiming to further increase its social impact with the social benefit projects it carries out, the company will continue to support the development of the competencies of the farmers it works with by receiving training in sustainable agricultural practices. Working closely with young entrepreneurs, Anadolu Efes also pledged to continue supporting the entrepreneurship ecosystem by benefiting from the power of innovation.
