07 Mar 2021

Nestlé Waters Turkey General Manager Michel Beneventi underlined in his statement on the occasion of March 22 World Water Day that water and a clean world are the most important heritage for future generations.

The United Nations predicts that global water supply will exceed 40% in 2030. More than 630 million people around the world do not have access to clean water. Today, 2.4 billion people are forced to use dirty water that puts their health at risk due to various reasons such as packaging waste and unconscious use. This being the case, the United Nations carries out activities to raise awareness about these problems and mobilize action to take measures, on World Water Day, March 22 every year. This year's theme of the studies, which are carried out within the framework of a different theme every year, was determined as "Value for Water".

Michel Beneventi, Turkey General Manager of Nestlé Waters, which supports the work carried out by the United Nations worldwide for the protection and management of water as well as for the elimination of all causes of climate change, gave information about the company's vision and work on this subject.

“It is our responsibility to leave a livable world to future generations.”

Underlining that they act with the awareness that water and a clean world are the most important heritage for future generations, Beneventi stated that, as Nestlé Waters, they undertake important responsibilities in the protection of this heritage from a holistic perspective. Beneventi continued: "It is our responsibility to leave a livable world to future generations. As Nestlé Waters, we see World Water Day as an opportunity to raise awareness of this responsibility. With the strength we derive from our company's vision of 'quality and healthy generations', we try to minimize our environmental impacts in all our activities with the understanding of protecting not only water but also the future."

“It is important to act together for the sustainability of water resources”

Beneventi stated that it is a great responsibility to deliver leading packaged water brands to consumers in the most healthy, natural and reliable way, and pointed out that the most important part of this responsibility is the management of water resources and said: "Turkey is a very lucky country compared to the rest of the world in terms of water resources. However, it is very important to protect the existing wealth and ensure its sustainability. Our biggest goal while running our business as Nestlé Waters is to implement a sustainable business model and to maintain it for many years. Water Conservation of all our filling facilities by 2025." We have chosen to reach a solution with a multi-stakeholder approach in solving water and environmental issues. We have contributed to saving approximately 500 million liters of water in nature with the different projects we have carried out together with our stakeholders in the last 10 years.

Underlining that leaving healthy water resources to future generations requires a collective effort, Beneventi continued his words as follows: "In this regard, we not only implement the best water resources management practices in the areas we operate, but also undertake the responsibility of encouraging the entire sector and carry out studies to increase social awareness. For this purpose, we launched the Caring for Water initiative globally, which is very compatible with this year's theme of World Water Day in 2018. This initiative aims to increase the quality of social life and promote healthy water resources. It takes actions with the mission of contributing to future generations.”
