According to the report, CarrefourSA saved nearly 1 ton of food waste in 2020-2021, while increasing the number of stores with zero waste certificates from 69 to 180.

CarrefourSA published its first Sustainability Report covering the years 2020-2021 and prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. In the report, the topics of economy, right workplace, value chain and environmental responsibility came to the fore.

CarrefourSA CEO Kutay Kartallıoğlu stated that they developed their own sustainability approach by taking the "United Nations Sustainable Development Goals" into account and said that they made this approach one of the basic elements of their business model. Kartallıoğlu stated that with this report prepared in line with the Reporting Principles specified in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, they shared with all transparency both the work in which they have demonstrated high success and the areas in which they need to improve themselves further, and continued: "The report falls into GRI's 'comprehensive' reporting classification. We share our performance information with the public, positive or negative, on all priority issues, without exception. The number of companies doing this is very few, not only in the sector, but in all of Turkey. How many ethical investigations have been initiated. We share with our stakeholders the number of products we withdraw from the shelves as a result of hygiene and quality controls and how we measure our own performance in every field, with great sincerity. We share these with our stakeholders because we are confident in ourselves and believe that we can always do better.”
