Strategic Investment from Şişecam to Provide Sustainability in Raw Material Supply

Şişecam made a strategic investment decision that will guarantee sustainability in raw material supply with the launch of new flat glass investments in Mersin. Şişecam, which will invest in a new sand preparation facility to meet the raw material needs of the facility on its land in Tarsus OIZ, where it will invest in flat glass, which will start its operations in 2025, will also increase the capacity of its limestone and dolomite processing facility in Mersin.
With this move, Şişecam aims to ensure close and sustainable resource supply for production processes, and to eliminate today's deteriorating supply chain-related risks before they arise, with a proactive management approach. With the investments targeted to be completed in September 2024 with an investment amount of approximately 1.5 Billion TL (82 Million Dollars), the sand preparation facility, which will meet the needs of flat glass and frosted glass, will have an annual capacity of 490 thousand tons. With a capacity increase of 165 thousand tons, the annual capacity of the Mersin dolomite limestone preparation facility will reach 655 thousand tons annually.
It will control the supply of critical inputs and costs

Various strategies such as long-term purchasing strategies, collaborations with critical suppliers, vertical integration have become the basic and permanent components of supply chain management."
