Our Areas of Expertise
Metal Packaging Europe has announced a licensing agreement with Canstruction, a successful American food charity based in Atlanta. Canstruction has hosted many events where huge sculptures made entirely from cans are displayed and then donated to charity. Metal Packaging Europe and Canstruction aim to accelerate Canstruction's activities in Europe in 2018 with their new designs that will be showcased for the first time.
Metal Packaging Europe and Canstruction joined forces for the first time in 2017 at events held in Madrid, Lisbon and Istanbul, where a guitar sculpture made of more than 1,000 tuna cans was exhibited. More than 7,000 canned goods were donated to local NGOs during these three events. To further increase the scope of the event this year, Metal Packaging Europe will create a structure replicating the "Endless Recycling of Metal" logo, as well as a seahorse and fish sculpture. This replica will be used in canned goods as a reminder of the infinite recycling potential of metal packaging. These inspiring designs will visually highlight how cans, with their durability and natural preservation properties, help preserve food and deliver nutritious, safe and delicious food for customers.
Canstruction National Headquarters President Carrie Kirk stated that since its founding, Canstruction has donated more than 32 million kilos of food to hunger relief charities around the world and donated more than 12 million cans of canned food in 2017. Metal Packaging Europe Communications Manager Ellen Wauters stated that they are excited about this collaboration and said, "We are proud to have collaborated with Canstruction. This project is an extraordinary program to draw attention to the important role cans play in bringing the beauty of nature into customers' homes. The combination of their creative concept and our members' knowledge of the canned food value chain will provide many opportunities to further develop the corporate social responsibility identity of our industry."
