SDG Ambition Program (SDG Target Acceleration Program), which will be organized by UN Global Compact for the first time in Turkey, started with the participation of 26 companies from Turkey. The program will support companies in accelerating the integration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their business processes.
17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by 193 countries in 2015 to ensure the welfare of societies and the sustainability of the planet. The 2022 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Report, which examines the progress made towards the SDGs to date, reveals that we have not progressed at the required speed and scale towards achieving the SDGs. Significantly accelerating progress requires urgent, measurable and multi-stakeholder work. The business world can be the pioneer of this transformation with its resources, value chain and innovation capability.
UN Global Compact launched the SDG Ambition program, which supports participating companies to set ambitious and realistic targets in line with the SDGs and to include these targets in their business and performance management processes. 26 companies from Turkey and more than 600 companies from around the world participated in the six-month program.
Participants will create or update their sustainability strategies with the program.
SDG Ambition Program, the contents of which were prepared in cooperation with UN Global Compact, Accenture and SAP Global, consists of three modules. During the program, participants; They align their company visions with the SDGs, prepare their goals and roadmaps in the priority areas they have determined, and define key performance indicators and technologies to implement these goals. Additionally, the participants; They also have the opportunity to participate in online training, question-answer sessions with experts, increase their knowledge at regional and global events, conduct impact analysis of their own institutions in the field of sustainability, and compare them with other companies. At the end of the program, they present the strategy they developed specifically for their company to their senior management.
More than 1,000 companies around the world participated in the program, 84 percent of which presented their roadmaps.
The program has been implemented at the global level for two years. During this period, more than 1,000 companies from more than 80 countries participated in the program. 84 percent of companies presented roadmaps to their senior management that will enable them to achieve their sustainability goals.
