Migros continues to create environmental and financial value by placing sustainability at the center of its business style. With the "Good Future Plan" developed in line with this vision, it includes not only its own operations, but also its suppliers and the entire ecosystem in the sustainability transformation.
Migros entered the Global A List by receiving the highest grade of “A” from both the Climate Change and Water Security programs within the scope of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). While it was one of only 5 companies from Turkey to receive A grade in both programs, Migros stood out as the only food retailer.
Science-Based Strategy Targeted for 2030 and 2050
- It aims to reduce its carbon footprint by 42% by 2030.
- A reduction of more than 12% in carbon emissions has been achieved in the last 3 years.
- Progresses with the goal of carbon net zero by 2050
- It decided to produce 1/3 of its entire electricity consumption with SPP (solar power plants)
Migros also reduces carbon emissions by 90% with its patented water cooling system; It also continues its work on refrigerants that provide low carbon emissions.
Leadership in Water Security
Migros aims to reduce water used only for hygiene purposes by 10% by 2030:
- Reduces water consumption in store operations with new technologies,
- It implements systems that prevent water pollution,
- It supports farmers in providing the right products and efficient irrigation, taking into account regional water risks.
Extends Its Sustainability Impact to the Supply Chain
Sharing more than 10 years of knowledge with its suppliers through the “Sustainable Business Partners Network”, Migros aims to reduce indirect carbon impacts. It works with its business partners to reduce the carbon footprint of the products on sale.
