Çevko Foundation – EGD Collaboration Against Climate Change

ÇEVKO Foundation, which is the founder of the sustainable recycling system in Turkey, discusses the issue of climate change in all its aspects in cooperation with the Economic Journalists Association (EGD) with its 30th Anniversary Conversations project. In the first of the interviews prepared by the ÇEVKO Foundation Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group in cooperation with the EGD Global Warming Congress Committee, the meaning of the EU Green Deal for Turkey and the Turkish business world was discussed.

ÇEVKO (Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Evaluation) Foundation has been continuing its work with increasing momentum for 30 years, with the aim of developing the sustainable recycling system it pioneered and increasing the separate collection of packaging waste at the source. ÇEVKO Foundation, which brings together the identities of an expert industrial initiative and an active non-governmental organization, is among the organizations that provide intellectual leadership on Climate Change and Circular Economy, with the synergy of its knowledge, domestic and international relations, experienced human resources, private sector - public and local administrations - academic institutions and social collaborations.

ÇEVKO Foundation, in cooperation with the Economic Journalists Association (EGD), discusses the issue of climate change in all its aspects with the 30th Anniversary Conversations project. The interviews, prepared by the ÇEVKO Foundation Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group, which brings together 12 industrial organizations carrying out pioneering work on sustainability, in cooperation with the EGD Global Warming Congress Committee, and held in the digital environment, will continue throughout 2021. The meaning of the EU Green Deal, which has been among the most talked about agenda items recently, for Türkiye and the Turkish business world was discussed.

The Green Deal is defined as a new growth strategy that includes the EU's main goals of zeroing net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, ending the dependence of economic growth on resource use, and leaving no one, no region behind. The main policies in this growth strategy are; It is structured as clean energy, sustainable industry, construction and renovation, farm to table, pollution elimination, sustainable mobility and biodiversity. The Green Deal is of vital importance for Turkish companies' export connections and global business footprint.

The guest of the online meeting titled "ÇEVKO Foundation 30th Anniversary Conversations: What Does the Green Deal Mean", moderated by Celal Toprak, President of the Economic Journalists Association, and with the participation of ÇEVKO Foundation Secretary General Mete İmer, was Şükrü Ünlütürk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Business World Platform for Goals.

Şükrü Ünlütürk, who gave general information about the Green Deal, discussed topics such as what is the nearest danger for the business world, what to do, how to take precautions, and the effects of the new industrial strategy on employment.
