Our Areas of Expertise
L'Oréal, a member of the ÇEVKO Foundation, crowned its success in the field of sustainability by becoming one of the two companies that received A in all three programs of CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). This success of L'Oréal emerged as a result of reducing carbon emissions in 2017, increasing water conservation, ensuring the necessary monitoring against deforestation in the supply chain, and leading a new and sustainable economy.
Making a statement on the subject, L'Oréal CEO Jean-Paul Agon said; "We are proud to be one of the two companies awarded a triple A score by CDP. At the halfway point of our 2020 goals, L'Oréal is undergoing a comprehensive transformation to achieve the extremely ambitious goals we have set for ourselves on a broader scale, focusing especially on climate protection, sustainable water management and forest protection. This success motivates us to further increase our work on the subject, emphasizing our sensitivity to the environment," he said.
The 2017 A List includes 160 global companies that were given an A score by CDP in the field of climate, water or forest, and the list was created at the request of 827 investors with assets over USD 100 trillion. Thousands of companies submit their annual environmental reports to CDP for independent evaluation in accordance with the scoring methodology.
CDP Executive Board Member Paul Dickinson said: "We congratulate all the companies that made it to the A list this year. It is inspiring to see many companies making bold moves to reduce environmental risks and seize the opportunities to transition to a sustainable economy."
CDP's 2017 assessment reveals that more and more companies are setting more ambitious, long-term climate targets, and that the transition to a low-carbon economy is also encouraging product innovation and the use of new tools for change.
Following the AAA score given by CDP, L'Oréal took a new step to emphasize its responsibility towards the environment and its determination in the field of sustainability. Forming a consortium with CARBIOS, one of the leading companies in the field of bioplastic surgery, L'Oréal signed an agreement to implement a biological recycling technology that will be designed and developed on an industrial scale by CARBIOS. The two companies formed a five-year consortium in the first phase. Already using up to 100% recycled plastic for a variety of products, L'Oréal is taking this even further and trying to make biorecycling available on an industry scale with its innovative CARBIOS technology.
