Migros and Omo came together for the Refilling Unit, which prevents the production of new plastic and aims to reduce the amount of plastic waste. With the unit installed in the Ataşehir MMM Migros store, which reduces the need for new plastic, consumers can fill the empty OMO Liquid Detergent bottles they bring with them; buys products at more affordable prices. Thanks to the pilot application, it is aimed to reduce the annual amount of plastic waste generated due to detergent sales at Ataşehir MMM Migros and to expand the project to other stores.

OMO and Migros teamed up for the Refilling Unit, which will help consumers reduce their plastic footprint. The application, which started with the cooperation of Migros and OMO, allows consumers to fill and reuse empty OMO Liquid Detergent bottles in the store. With the OMO Refilling Unit installed in the Ataşehir MMM Migros store, OMO's liquid detergents for whites and colors (OMO Liquid Active Fresh and OMO Liquid Color) can be filled into the empty bottles of the same product that customers bring with them. Consumers, who avoid the production of new packaging and reduce their own plastic footprint by using the same detergent bottle over and over, get the refilled product at a more affordable price compared to the product on the shelf. Thanks to the OMO Refilling Unit, it is aimed to reduce both the plastic footprint of consumers and the annual amount of plastic waste generated by detergent sales in Migros stores.

How can the refill unit be used?

Those who bring the empty bottle of the product they used before scan the barcode of the bottle in the filling unit, detect the size of the bottle and refill the amount of product the bottle will hold. The unit, which has three different filling options of 910 ml, 1690 ml and 1950 ml, gives a new barcode for the bottle when the process is completed and payment is made with this barcode. Customers who want to try the system but do not have a bottle with them can benefit from small size (910 ml) bottles, which will be kept in limited numbers in the filling units for a while.
