ÇEVKO Foundation, which is the founder of the sustainable recycling system in Turkey, will export its knowledge and experience to Kazakhstan. The Government of Kazakhstan wants to benefit from the know-how of the ÇEVKO Foundation for the project of obtaining energy from waste. In this context, a Kazakhstan delegation paid a high-level visit to the ÇEVKO Foundation Headquarters and a memorandum of understanding was signed during this visit.
ÇEVKO (Environmental Protection and Packaging Waste Utilization) Foundation, which brings together the identities of an expert industrial initiative and an active non-governmental organization, has been continuing its work with increasing momentum for 30 years with the aim of developing the sustainable recycling system it pioneered and increasing the separate collection of packaging waste at the source. ÇEVKO Foundation, which is among the organizations that provide intellectual leadership on Climate Change and Circular Economy, is preparing to export its knowledge and experience to Kazakhstan.
The first step in the process, which started with the desire to benefit from the experiences of ÇEVKO Foundation within the scope of the visit of Kazakhstan officials to Istanbul with the agenda of waste management and green economy, was taken with an international cooperation protocol.
Within the scope of the protocol text, expressions such as 'Transfer of international experience on the collection and recycling of packaging waste, related technologies and their applicability in the Republic of Kazakhstan', 'providing consultancy in this context and in order for the Republic of Kazakhstan to comply with EU standards at the highest possible level in the field of waste management', 'providing consultancy on financing models and resources on relevant issues' and 'close cooperation on these issues' were included.
Deputy Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akhmetzhan Pirimkulov, President of EPR Operator (Extended Producers' Commitments Operator) Medet Kumargaliyev and their delegation paid a visit to ÇEVKO Foundation Headquarters in this context. During this visit, ÇEVKO Foundation Chairman of the Board of Directors Okyar Yayalar and Kazakhstan EPR Operator Chairman of the Board of Directors Medet Kumargaliyev signed the cooperation protocol prepared on cooperation.
As part of the visit, a presentation was made to the Kazakhstan delegation, including the work of the ÇEVKO Foundation and cooperation opportunities between the two parties, and then a cooperation-oriented meeting was held between the parties.
Okyar Yayalar stated that ÇEVKO Foundation has a unique knowledge and experience in its field with its studies and activities in the international arena and said, "With this knowledge and experience, which we are transforming into benefit for institutions and organizations in the country as well as the environment and economy, we will be proud to contribute to our sister country Kazakhstan's determination focused on improving waste management and transition to a green economy, and to export knowledge."
At the visit of the Kazakhstan delegation to the ÇEVKO Foundation and the signing of the cooperation protocol, EPR Operator Representative Asel Nazirova and Kazakh Invest Turkey Representative Asiljan Mirzaliyer from Kazakhstan, General Secretary Mete İmer and Public, International Relations and Projects Manager Alphan Eröztürk from the ÇEVKO Foundation were also present.
