World Economic Forum 2022 Global Risk Report has been published. According to the report, in addition to the problems created by the pandemic, the biggest risks include the climate crisis, increasing social divisions and an unequal global recovery process.
Among the notable problems in the Global Risk Report published by the World Economic Forum for 2022, economic and social problems arising from the pandemic, vaccine inequality, and social cracks and geopolitical tensions that will be created by different economic recovery rates of countries stand out.
One of the prominent studies in the report is that only 1 in 6 people are optimistic and even only 1 in 10 people believe that the global recovery process will accelerate, according to a global survey conducted with experts from governments, non-governmental organizations and investors.
The failure of climate change measures and the occurrence of extraordinary weather conditions stand out as the leading concerns for the next 5-10 years.
While debt-related issues are listed among the medium-term dangers, experts think that the global recovery may be unbalanced and differ between countries.
Cyber security concerns have been replaced by social conflict
Studies show that the pandemic has caused the perception of which risks are more likely to occur in the next 10 years to change, and previous concerns about cyber and data security have been replaced by climate and social concerns.
"The commitments made at COP26 (26th UN Climate Change Conference) are still not enough to achieve the 1.5 degree target," said Peter Giger, Risk Manager of Zurich Insurance Group, and warned, "Failing to take action on climate change could reduce the Global Gross Domestic Product by one sixth."
According to a survey, participants want to see broader cooperation between leaders to solve global problems, although different recovery rates of economies threaten cooperation.
