Our Vision
In order to develop a sustainable system for recycling waste in Türkiye;
- To assume and fulfil the industry’s responsibilities.
- To convey the industry’s perspectives to all stakeholders and thereby contribute to the creation of a modern legal framework for waste management.
- To collaborate with local authorities to expand practices of separate collection, segregation and recycling across the country within the legally defined framework.
- To provide expertise in waste management by drawing on domestic and international practices; to conduct effective promotion, training and public-information activities to raise environmental awareness; to engage in R&D studies; and to offer consultancy and technical support to relevant stakeholders.
ÇEVKO Foundation, which obtained the right to use the international “Green Dot” brand in Türkiye in 2003, joined the family of recycling organisations that utilise this label widely across Europe, thereby gaining the right to represent our country within the European Union. ÇEVKO Foundation, which started out with 14 members in 1991, was established within the context of Türkiye’s harmonisation process with the EU through the “Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste Control” in 2005 and was declared an Authorized Organisation by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation. The Authorisation Certificate, renewed in 2013, remains valid until 2023.
Between 2005 and 2020, the Foundation developed partnerships with local governments and licensed companies to fulfil the recycling obligations of the companies it represents, and made a significant contribution to the environment and Türkiye’s economy by ensuring that 7,608,700 tons of packaging waste were collected separately at source. It played an active role in raising social awareness about packaging-waste recycling through training and awareness-raising initiatives. The Foundation adopts the principles of “Integrated Waste Management” in all its works in line with its founding purposes. Through this approach it develops projects that prioritise shared responsibility among local governments, industry and consumers. It also continues its work on climate change and the circular economy.
We dedicate ourselves to developing a sustainable system for recycling waste under the leadership of industry, in order to protect the environment and contribute to social development and the economy in Türkiye.
