June 5 World Environment Day, declared by the United Nations in 1972, has been celebrated for 46 years with the aim of increasing environmental awareness all over the world.
ÇEVKO Foundation, which has been continuing its work on recycling for 27 years, participates in events organized by municipalities and provides information on this important day to raise environmental awareness among citizens and provide information about recycling.
As every year, World Environment Day was celebrated all over the country this year and hosted beautiful images. ÇEVKO Foundation, especially in Istanbul and from Osmangazi to Söke; He participated in events or provided informational materials in a total of 52 municipalities across the country, from Fatsa to Şahinbey. More than 75 thousand consumers were reached through the events.

Environmentalist Children of Yenimahalle Gave a Lesson to Adults – June 3
Thousands of children filling Hasan Doğan Stadium drew attention to the importance of the environment. Representatives of non-governmental organizations TAP, ASKİ, TÜBİSAD, ÇEVKO, TEMA, DEHA Waste Oil Collection and Recovery, TBT Electronic Recycling, Çevnak Recycling, Altıntaşlar Recycling, children from Yenimahalle Municipality Kindergarten, İsmail Erez Primary School, Refika Aksoy Primary School, Mimar Sinan Vocational High School and Prof. Dr. Yenimahalle Mayor Fethi Yaşar also attended the festival attended by Mehmet Sağlam Secondary School students.
At the event, children had fun with marbling art, stone doll workshop, scented stone art and ceramic art activities with YENİMEK teachers. Kindergarten children learned about environmental awareness by having fun and playing. Addressing the children at the event, Yenimahalle Mayor Fethi Yaşar said, "Both our world and our country are getting polluted day by day. As the world gets polluted, the water gets polluted, the air gets polluted, life becomes harder and the country's economies suffer. We have to protect our nature, not pollute our water and keep our environment clean. If we do all of these correctly, we will add recycling to our economy and our city. "We keep our country and our world clean," he said. Yaşar said, "We are working to keep Yenimahalle clean. As citizens, you should do your best to keep your streets and streets clean. Yenimahalle is among the strongest municipalities in Turkey in terms of cleanliness today. We need your support to ensure the continuity of this." Yaşar participated in the cloth bag painting activity at the ÇEVKO Foundation's stand and then took a photo with the children.
World Environment Day in Esenyurt - June 4
This year, Esenyurt Municipality celebrated World Environment Day with the slogan "Our Nature Wants a Favor from Us" and provided the right information by celebrating in various schools and squares. ÇEVKO information team and packaging waste mascots also met with the people of Esenyurt on this special day.
In the celebrations attended by Mayor Ali Murat Alatepe, the people of Esenyurt and students from schools were informed about environment and recycling issues.
Kadıköy Environmental Festival - 31 May - 3 June
The Kadıköy Environment Festival, organized by Kadıköy Municipality for the second time this year, was held with the theme of 'pollution and biodiversity in the Sea of Marmara'. 28 thousand people attended the 4-day festival, attended by 68 environmental organizations. mass organization, non-governmental organization, platform and initiative. Colorful events, from music to theatre, dance and competitions, were organized in the festival, where colorful events, workshops and screenings took place in every corner.
ÇEVKO Foundation contributed to the festival by raising public awareness. Cloth bag painting activities were held at the ÇEVKO stand throughout the festival and educational books were distributed to children. Additionally, ÇEVKO children's theater met with environmentalist children from Kadıköy.
Çiğli Homa Dalyanı is Sparkling on Environment Day - 5 June 2018
The coastal cleaning work initiated in Çiğli Homa Dalyanı by Çiğli Municipality to draw attention to the environmental pollution in the world and in our country due to the Environment Week was carried out with wide participation this year. Ergül Arslan was made brilliantly by a team of 150 people consisting of council members, students, volunteer groups and citizens. ÇEVKO Foundation also contributed to the cleaning by providing information and with the environmentalist cat ÇEVKİ.
The starting point of the environmental cleaning movement was the Izmir Bird Sanctuary visitor center. Çiğli Municipality staff and volunteer citizens came to the meeting point with buses. All volunteers were first given detailed information about the Gediz Delta. Then, teams of ten people, each named after a bird, went to the shores of Izmir Bird Sanctuary and Homa Dalyan to clean.
