Sustainability Move in Artificial Intelligence Supported Glass Production from Şişecam

Şişecam aims to both increase efficiency and reduce environmental impact in production processes by placing sustainability at the center of all business processes. In line with this vision, the Glass Color Optimization Project (CROP) with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Methods, implemented with the support of TÜBİTAK, aims to reduce wastage rates and carbon emissions by eliminating color problems in glass production.

Quality and Efficiency in Production with Artificial Intelligence

Thanks to the infrastructure to be developed within the scope of the CROP project carried out by Şişecam together with Koç University, TÜBİTAK Artificial Intelligence Institute and Analythinx Bilişim Hizmetleri:

  • Color differences experienced during glass production will be minimized,
  • Root causes of problems will be analyzed with artificial intelligence models,
  • Real-time solution suggestions will be produced,

  • Waste rates and energy waste in production will be reduced,
  • Accordingly, carbon emissions will be reduced.

Wide Domain with 2 Years of Modeling

The first implementation of the project will be carried out at Eskişehir Glassware Factory and will last approximately 2 years. The data and infrastructure obtained at the end of the project will be integrated into other production facilities of Şişecam. Thus, the impact of the project will become scalable.

One of the 17 Projects Supported in TÜBİTAK 1711 Program

CROP, one of only 17 projects supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK's 1711 Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem Call in 2023, aims to contribute to Türkiye's independence in critical technologies, generate value from artificial intelligence technologies and accelerate sectoral transformation.
