Evaluating the research, Vodafone Türkiye Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Hasan Süel, said:
"Digitalization is positioned as the key to energy efficiency, responsible use of natural resources and creating a circular economy. The worldwide research conducted by the Vodafone Institute is important as it shows the role of digitalization in the fight against climate change. According to the research, technology and innovation stand out as the decisive levers in the fight against climate change. A significant part of the participants see digitalization as an effective solution in the fight against the climate crisis. As the transformation targets from the business world to carbon neutral companies follow each other for a sustainable future, both our sector and our own carbon emissions increase." There are important duties in terms of reducing the footprint and providing the needed solutions.
Vodafone Group has committed to reducing global carbon emissions to net zero by 2040. In this context, we started to provide 100% of the electricity we use in our network and offices in Turkey from renewable energy sources. We became the first and only operator in Turkey to use renewable energy in its entire network. In addition, we installed solar energy systems in our technology centers in Adana and Istanbul Esenyurt with a total investment of more than 5 million TL. We plan to continue our renewable energy investments with our technology centers in Izmir, Tuzla and Diyarbakır. We aim to prevent approximately 1,451 tons of carbon emissions annually with the renewable energy investments we will implement. “With the digital solutions we offer to our customers, we contribute to them reducing their environmental impact while increasing their energy efficiency.”
