In the first year of its 2030 Sustainability Commitments, Coca-Cola İçecek (CCI) has made five major investments towards its goal of operating its factories with 100% renewable energy and switching to carbon neutral production. CCI, which established solar power plants in its Isparta and Köyceğiz factories in Turkey, has started preparations for a wind turbine in its Çorlu factory to switch to renewable energy. CCI also established solar power plants in the cities of Haripur and Multan in Pakistan.
Coca-Cola Beverage (CCI) continues to work in line with the 2030 Sustainability Commitments announced last year on April 22 Earth Day. In line with its goal of operating its factories with 100% renewable energy and switching to carbon neutral production, CCI established solar power plants in its Köyceğiz and Isparta factories in Turkey. With the commissioning of the power plant, CCI started to meet 36% of its consumption in its Isparta factory using the electricity it produced itself. With the solar power plants to be commissioned, 25% of the factory's electricity consumption in Köyceğiz will be met, and with the wind turbine to be installed in the Çorlu factory, 35% will be covered by renewable energy investments. In Pakistan, 14% of the consumption of the Haripur factory and 12% of the consumption of the Multan factory will be obtained from solar power plants.
Coca-Cola Beverage CEO Burak Basarir said, "Last year, on April 22, Earth Day, we announced our 2030 commitments. An important topic of our commitments was on the 'use of renewable energy'. We are aware that we have a lot of work to do, but I am pleased to say that we have taken important steps in this field before the end of our first year. With the investments that bring us one step closer to our 2030 commitments, we have increased the total electricity consumption of Turkey, which is one of our two largest operations. "We will provide 13% of Pakistan's consumption from renewable energy sources in the first year. CCI will continue its renewable energy investments without slowing down in the coming period," he said.
Providing service to a population of 430 million with its 10 thousand employees and a giant ecosystem of nearly 100 thousand people in 11 countries where it operates, CCI has demonstrated its responsibility for the future with its 2030 Sustainability Commitments. CCI, by 2030; It took action to use at least 50% recycled plastic in all its packaging, establish packaging collection systems, increase water efficiency by 20%, carry out water recovery projects, switch to 100% renewable electricity in its facilities, reduce carbon emissions by 13%, comply with the Human Rights Policy by 100%, increase women's employment in order to ensure gender equality at work, and reach 3.5 million people with sustainable development programs.
