110 Million Dollar Loan from EBRD to Enerjisa Üretim for Green Energy Projects

10 May 2023

Turkey's leading private sector electricity generation company Enerjisa Üretim announced that it received a seven-year loan of 110 million dollars from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The loan will be used for wind energy projects and the purchase of an operating wind power plant.

Energisa Üretim, a subsidiary of Sabancı Holding and E.ON, will use a seven-year loan of 110 million dollars from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance the new, completely renewable energy investment that will increase its installed capacity by 51.6 MW and the purchase of a 55 MW operational wind power plant. Enerjisa Üretim, which aims to prevent approximately 52,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually as a result of investments, will also contribute to the social and economic development in the regions.

EBRD Sustainable Infrastructure General Manager Nandita Parshad emphasized the importance of renewable energy for Türkiye's green future and said, "The Bank's relationship with Enerjisa Üretim started more than ten years ago with the financing of Balıkesir Wind Power Plant, Türkiye's largest wind power plant. Since then, Enerjisa Üretim has continued to grow and become one of the most important and pioneering electricity producers on a European scale and in digitalization. We are pleased to develop this effective partnership by supporting the company's ambitious expansion plans for its renewable energy portfolio." "We have to use Türkiye's renewable energy potential to reduce carbon emissions in the country's economy and accelerate green goals. By financing this project, we will prevent more than 52,000 tons of carbon emissions from Türkiye's electricity production annually, and this will be an important step towards achieving the country's net zero targets," he said.

We Will Offer New Opportunities to Women and Youth

Enerjisa Üretim CFO Mert Yaycıoğlu said, "We are one step closer to our goals with the loan we received from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. With these projects, we focus not only on green energy production but also on issues that can create opportunities for women and youth. I would like to thank our Enerjisa Üretim and EBRD teams for contributing to the signing of such a large loan agreement."
