Our Areas of Expertise
Kadıköy Climate Workshop, organized by Kadıköy Municipality within the scope of the "Integrated and Participatory Climate Action" project, continues with the participation of neighborhood residents. This month's guests of the workshop, which took place at the Ecological Life Center on Saturday, December 10, were residents of Göztepe and Sahrayıcedit neighborhoods.
The aim of the Kadıköy Climate Workshop, which brings together neighborhood residents and experts on the subject, is to increase the capacity of the district to become resilient against the negative effects of climate change and to develop a sense of ownership by raising awareness among the neighborhood residents in the fight against the climate crisis. The workshop, developed and implemented by Kadıköy Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate, was held this month with the participation of Göztepe and Sahrayıcedit neighborhood residents.
In the workshop conducted by Kadıköy Municipality Climate Ambassadors Işık Baştuğ and Melda Karademir, firstly an information was given about the selected neighborhoods and then international good practice examples were presented. Participants were divided into two groups, Göztepe and Sahrayıcedit neighborhoods, and shared ideas on buildings, transportation and waste management to increase energy efficiency. Solution suggestions were noted on the neighborhood map, and an exchange of ideas was held to ensure maximum efficiency in the fight against the climate crisis through the best practice suggestions of both groups.
The report of the workshop, which is planned to be completed by focusing on all neighborhoods of Kadıköy by the end of 2023, will contribute to the projects implemented by the municipality to date and shed light on new projects. In addition, the municipality will take into account the opinions and suggestions coming from the residents of the neighborhood through these workshops while preparing its strategic plan.
