The Positive Future in Agriculture Symposium brought together the stakeholders of the agricultural ecosystem.
At the symposium organized by PepsiCo in Istanbul, the session titled "Positive Transformation in Agriculture: Regenerative Agriculture" was held. During the session, PepsiCo Foundation Vice President C.D. Glin, Anadolu Meraları Founding Partner Durukan Dudu and Ankara University Faculty of Agriculture Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İlkay Dellal made evaluations about regenerative agriculture.
In the "Access to Food and Creation of Sustainable Food Systems" session, Basic Needs Association General Manager Nil Tibukoğlu, founder of the "From Soil to Plate" initiative, Social Entrepreneur and Chef Ebru Baybara Demir, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Head of the Department of Harmonization with the European Union, Zeynep Özkan, Protect Your Food Campaign Coordinator, discussed the sustainable food system.
In the last session of the symposium, under the title "Future in Agriculture and Young Generations' Interest in Agriculture", Targi Founder, farmer Ahmet Sümer, Tabit Smart Agriculture Technologies Inc. Founding Partner Tülin Akın, Susuz Tarım Farm Founder and Chief Executive (CEO) Dr. Ece Aynur Onur talked about good examples of what can be done to make young people interested in agriculture.
Speaking at the symposium, PepsiCo Global Corporate Affairs President and PepsiCo Foundation President Roberto Azevedo said that PepsiCo has been in Turkey for 60 years and that one of PepsiCo's most important strategic operations globally is carried out in Turkey.
Stating that, as PepsiCo, they have greatly accelerated their efforts on sustainability all over the world in the last few years, Azevedo said, "Within the scope of the Pep+ strategy, we have strong targets in many areas, especially agriculture, which is the focus of our meeting today. We have already made significant progress in these targets in Turkey. We provide 100 percent of our potatoes and corn in Turkey in a sustainable way through our Sustainable Agriculture Program. We are carrying out very important works in Turkey within the scope of regenerative agriculture. Training and financial support to Turkish farmers with Agro Academy." “We provide it.” He said.
Azevedo stated that they can only overcome future challenges for a sustainable food system together and in cooperation.
PepsiCo Turkey General Manager Evrim Şen also explained that PepsiCo Turkey has implemented important works within the framework of Positive Agriculture and that it has a very large-scale agricultural ecosystem.
Şen said, “As PepsiCo, we think that a sustainable food system is a common issue for all of us and we support collaborations on this issue.” he said.
