On September 18, World Cleanup Day, we cleaned the Maltepe coast, hand in hand with ÇEVKO Foundation Climate Change and Sustainability Working Group, Maltepe Municipality, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and environmental volunteers.

While the teams gathered in front of Küçükyalı Marriage Office in the morning and collected waste on the beach with their collection equipment, citizens from the surrounding area also participated in the event. One of the participants of the event was Mika Harbeck, a native of Finland who has been living in Türkiye for 15 years. Stating that environmental cleanliness is very important to him, Harbeck said, "First of all, we should pay attention to the items we use. If we need it, we should buy it. After all, what we do not buy will never be garbage." he said. Harbeck added that all people in Türkiye and around the world should pay more attention to waste management and environmental cleanliness.

While collecting waste, it was also aimed to separate it according to its type and recycle it. In the cleaning and waste collection work carried out, the importance of recycling due to the climate crisis was emphasized. The collected packaging waste was delivered to Maltepe Municipality officials for recycling.
