Stating in the report that it aims to be carbon neutral by 2050, Tat Gıda underlines that it has expanded its responsible production and management approach to every field of its work in a way that will serve the welfare of the land, farmers and our society.

Tat Gıda CEO Evren Albaş, drawing attention to the importance of changing the way they do business within the scope of Turkey's future, protecting resources and access to healthy food, and placing sustainability at the center of their activities, said that they attach great importance to smart agricultural practices and digitalization in production for sustainability in agriculture and continuity of food supply. Albaş said, "We have products that have managed to enter every home, every restaurant, every kitchen in Turkey for more than half a century, and whose name is associated with trust and quality. We support food safety and the future of agriculture. We serve the welfare of the land, farmers and our society with our expertise in the field of agriculture and food, and we carry out pioneering work in our facilities in Mustafakemalpaşa, Karacabey and Torbalı for a sustainable future in agriculture. We are a company with a high social impact; we consider all our stakeholders as part of our sustainability journey." "With our first strategic sustainability road map, we want to underline that we are a brand that takes good care of Turkey in every field we touch, and we are working to expand our sphere of influence within the environmental, social and governance framework for a more livable world," he said.

Albaş said that they are carrying out radical projects that will ensure that agriculture and food production are ready for the future in all the regions they operate in, and said, "With the aim of becoming Turkey's global food company, we are developing business models that design the future today by focusing on technology to benefit people and the environment. As Tat Gıda, we are determined to lead our industry in reducing the carbon footprint and sustainability while reducing the use of water, fertilizer and chemicals."

“We made the journey of our products from field to plate traceable”

Albaş stated that they have commissioned transformation projects in many areas such as traceability in production, automation and artificial intelligence applications, and gave the following information:

"We passed the SIRI (Smart Industry Readiness Index) evaluation, one of the most effective digital maturity assessment programs on a global scale, for the digital transformation of our production facilities. We reduced our electricity consumption in production by 15% with our artificial intelligence-supported smart water resources management system. We took the first step to make the entire journey of our products from field to table traceable, through TTRACE, a traceability platform with blockchain infrastructure. We started the tracking process of our tomatoes from field to facility in our Karacabey factory."

Stating that they have invested in digitalization and smart technologies in agriculture, Albaş said, "With the successful practices we have achieved in our own field, we are becoming a role model for farmers to produce with a more efficient and profitable production model. We work with more than 1000 farmers, nearly 500 of whom are contracted, within the scope of our 'Contract Agriculture' practice, which has been continuing uninterruptedly for 55 years. We currently work with over 1000 farmers, nearly 500 of whom are under contract. With the digital agriculture practices we currently carry out in an area of 2,600 decares, we are producing 10-11 crops per decare." We achieved tomato yields of tons. By sharing these practices with farmers, we achieved approximately 30% water savings. Thanks to satellite monitoring, weather conditions can be predicted on a local basis and risk analysis of diseases that will affect the product can be made. As a result of the data and analysis received from these stations, disease risks are sent to farmers through the 'Tat Lider Çiftçi' mobile application. "We enable 476 farmers to benefit from agricultural financing opportunities without the need for limit work and under favorable conditions according to market conditions," he said.

Albaş said that Tat Gıda entered 2024 with a strong performance in production, exports and sustainability, and pointed out the importance of exports in the company's sustainable and profitable growth targets. Albaş said, "We continue to fly our country's flag successfully in foreign markets. The basis of our success lies in the global food safety certificates and high quality of our products, as well as our ability to produce products that suit the taste and local recipes of the countries we operate in. Another reason for this success is our work based on a net positive impact on sustainability."
