The European Union (EU) has made significant progress in its goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55 percent compared to 1990 levels by 2030. According to the latest evaluation report published by the EU Commission, member states have taken important steps towards achieving their climate and energy targets.

The report states that the emission reduction target set within the scope of the European Climate Law is becoming increasingly achievable, and if EU policies are fully implemented with existing and planned measures, it is predicted that net greenhouse gas emissions will decrease by 54 percent by 2030.

In addition, there are serious increases in the use of renewable energy. The share of renewable resources in energy consumption across the EU is expected to reach at least 42.5 percent.

While the European Union remains determined to combat the climate crisis, it called on member states to fully implement existing policies in order to achieve the 2030 goals.
