Packaging Eco-design
The copyrights of award-winning projects belong to the project owner. Efficient resource use has become important today, when all kinds of raw materials, energy and natural resources are decreasing and the circular economy is gaining value. In packaging production; raw materials, energy, water, storage, logistics, etc. Many social, environmental and economic benefits are provided by preventing the use of excess packaging through methods such as reducing resources, using recycled materials and materials, reusing packaging, and depositing.
Applications in this category require compliance with the following parameters:
- Compliance with the basic duties of the packaging should be taken into account.
- Using fewer resources in production (less materials and less energy -Reduce), reduced packaging, product-packaging ratio. reduction, volume reduction, efficient energy use.
- Possibility of reuse (Reuse).
- Availability of recycling/recovery (Recycle/Recover). Designing to produce less waste.
- Optimization of transportation throughout the entire life cycle, optimizing the shape for transportation, designs suitable for pallets and transportation. The organization organizing the competition (ÇEVKO Foundation) has the right to exhibit, publish and archive the participating projects.
Category Evaluation Criteria
The packaging must be original and attractive, and it must create a meaningful difference among its existing counterparts with its design, material, resource use and production model.
Prevention practices in packaging, recycling/recovery of the packaging after use of the product, and the message given to the consumer about this (it is essential that the packaging meets the 3R functions).
Selection of materials suitable for the packaged product, ease and suitability of the packaging design in terms of production, being durable, protecting the product it contains, being able to be transported and stored from the supplier to the manufacturer and from there to the sales points, and being suitable for display at the final sales points.
Compliance of the packaging with existing standards and laws regarding production, allocating an area in the packaging that can provide information about the product (can an area be provided where information can be provided if necessary?)
